Are museums not child-friendly? Too many people, too long queues, exhibitions that aren't fun enough... yes, but Parisian museums aren't the place to confirm this rumor, no! Between the workshops, guided tours and events(some of which are free ) organized by the various museums in the city and the surrounding suburbs, one thing's for sure: you won't be bored!
On the program: visit-workshops to discover collections and exhibitions before developing your creativity in a workshop, but also investigations to discover mysterious secrets, games... Some museums offer game booklets and children's trails to discover certain "grown-up" exhibitions with the eyes (and patience) of a young audience, while others offer guided tours with specially-trained mediators.
Parisian museums are constantly innovating, offering both programs for children, where they can attend a workshop, a guided tour or an event without the presence of an accompanying adult, and programs for families, where they can spend time together as a family, under the banner of culture. In fact, it would be a shame not to, since children under 18 (and sometimes under 25) get free admission to many of Paris's museums!
Several times a year, some museums offer entire weekends of 100% kid- and family-friendly activities. Concerts, snacks, tours, activities, music and dance... It's also an opportunity to marvel at a museum, especially as most of these events are free or inexpensive.
So grab your little ones and head off to discover the latest Parisian exhibitions, take part in a creative workshop, climb to the top of the Dôme des Invalides or wander through the gigantic corridors of the Cité des Sciences, get lost in the many wings of the Louvre or opt for a child-sized museum with the Musée en herbe. We promise you won't be disappointed.
