The plantamouves, the giant foam installation of the Centre Pompidou, to play with your family

Let's go to the Galerie des enfants, on the second floor of the Centre Georges Pompidou! As you enter the Center, you can already see the multicolored puddles of the plantamouves, the playful installation that now occupies the entire Galerie des Enfants, until September 4, 2023.

This installation is the work of two artists, Clédat and Petitpierre, who wanted to put the body in motion at the heart of the Children's Gallery and propose a space to be invented, with a basic structure (the large foam tubes that seem to emerge from the ground) and lots of mobile plantamouves, arranged in the gallery.

So, even if the installation is recommended from 3 years old to about 10 years old, one can also meet toddlers, babies who are not yet walking, busy clinging to the big foam tubes, under the supervision of their parents. Here, no shoes, the regime is the same for everyone: adults and children can enter only in socks and finally, that's what we like, this feeling of being in our own living room, as a family.

A whole series of videos (created by a live performance company) proposes to the public to equip themselves with plantamouves to become plants themselves, before launching into choreographies which combine synchronization, motor skills and sports awakening. The good news is that children don't pay: admission to the Centre Georges Pompidou is free for those under 18!

Beyond the ingenious idea of taking possession of the Children's Gallery with the plantamouves, there is the pleasure of the material, this foam that never hurts, and that we love to touch: a little firm and at the same time, all soft, super smooth, that we handle for hours. If you haven't tried the plantamouves with your family yet, go for it (before September 4, 2023): you'll be surprised to see the whole family having fun (we promise) and the children enjoying themselves during the whole afternoon!
