Introduced into service in 2004, line L of the Transilien SNCF network now serves 36 stops spread over some 40 communes, along a 76 km route. This commuter train crosses Hauts-de-Seine, Yvelines and Val-d'Oise, linking the inner and outer suburbs of Paris. In the event of a strike or industrial action, traffic on the L line can be severely disrupted, which is why it's important to check the real-time information regularly.
Within the capital, the L line has two stops, the first at Gare Saint Lazare, in the 8tharrondissement of Paris, close to Paris's department stores and with connections to lines 3, 9, 12, 13 and 14 of the Paris metro, RER lines A and E, and line J of the Transilien network. It then passes through Pont Cardinet, in Paris's 17th arrondissement, on the Batignolles side, before joining the inner suburbs of the Hauts-de-Seine, passing through the towns of Clichy-la-Garenne, Levallois-Perret, Asnières-sur-Seine and Courbevoie, before dividing into several sections.
Along its route, line L provides connections to La Défense, the business district with its many skyscrapers, and to metro line 1, as well as to towns whose beautiful heritage is well worth a visit, such as Versailles, home to the famous Château du Roi Soleil, Saint-Cloud, Sèvres, Maisons-Lafitte, Marly-le-Roi and Louveciennes.
