The Caserne Montmartre invites you to dance the night away at its annual firemen's ball on the occasion of Bastille Day, this Friday, July 14, 2023, from 9pm to 4am. It's one of France's best-loved traditions, shared by all: every year, to commemorate the storming of the Bastille in 1789, the people of Paris and Ile-de-France get together to dance and sing, in the midst of the Paris fire department.
And it'snot just any ball, since the tradition of the firemen's ball was born in this barracks in the 18th arrondissement. According to the Paris fire department website, the first fire department ball took place on July 14, 1937 at the Caserne Montmartre, on the initiative of Sergeant Cournet.
The story goes that the Montmartre firefighters, returning from the military parade, were followed by citizens happy to celebrate the national holiday. In Paris, several fire stations are scheduled to welcome the population on July 13 or 14. But the one in Montmartre will have a taste of history, in the heart of one of the capital's most beautiful districts. As always, the program will include music, a refreshment bar and firemen, making for an unforgettable evening!
For security reasons, the organizers reserve the right of access to this ball. Admission is free, and the traditional "tonneau" will be available to receive donations.
