Each year, on the 14 July, the French and visitors alike are invited to celebrate the National Holiday. For the occasion, the country comes alive with traditional festivities, from fireworks and street dances to military parades. The Paris region is no exception, and across Île-de-France, towns unveil festive activities to mark the moment, between the 13 and 14 July.
Located 10 km from Paris, in the Val-de-Marne, to the southwest of the capital, the town of Champigny-sur-Marne offers a pleasant way of life in one of the Marne’s meanders. The surroundings are so inviting that this corner of Île-de-France has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the traces of life unearthed in archaeological digs.
Over the centuries, the residents of the municipality have left traces—some spectacular, some more modest—of their passage. Churches and chapels, château de Cœuilly, cité-jardin, Fort Champigny, parks and islands, cultural curiosities... A stroll to discover all these treasures is a must, so why not take advantage of the Bastille Day 2026?
