Because of the heatwave and the risk of fires, the Essonne Prefecture has issued a temporary ban on fireworks and outdoor festive fires across the department, from July 7 to July 15, 2026 inclusive. Consequently, Savigny-sur-Orge’s fireworks show, originally scheduled for Monday, July 13, is postponed to a later date.
"The firefighters’ ball is, for now, still on, unless the fire station and the Firefighters’ Association indicate otherwise," the town hall stated, adding "that barbecues, campfires and any use of fire are prohibited in the city’s public spaces, particularly in parks and green areas."
July 14 is one of the high points of summer in France. To mark the occasion, many towns host festivities open to everyone, with animations, shows, concerts, and popular dances. The celebrations typically carry on into the evening with the traditional fireworks, while in Paris the Champs-Élysées military parade remains one of the day's most emblematic highlights.
If you live in Savigny-sur-Orge or nearby, the National Day 2026 is fast approaching! The traditional fireworks display is on the program, but heads up — it will be held in the town on July 13, 2026, not on July 14. Don't get the date wrong, or you and your little ones might be disappointed!
