The Marché de Noël de Notre-Dame returns to the 5th arrondissement from November 28 to December 25, 2025. French crafts, regional gastronomy and enchanting entertainment await you in Square René Viviani.

The Notre-Dame de Paris Christmas Market will once again be held at Square René Viviani, from Friday, November 28 to Thursday, December 25, 2025. This unmissable event in the 5th arrondissement, voted the most charming Christmas market in Paris, showcases French crafts and gastronomy just a stone's throw from the cathedral. With around forty carefully selected chalets, musical entertainment, and a visit from Santa Claus, this market promises an authentic Christmas atmosphere in a truly enchanting setting.

For over 15 years, the L'Art et la Seine association has been organizing this market, which celebrates French savoir-faire. Located at the junction of Quai Montebello and Square Viviani, in the 5th arrondissement, this small market prefers quality to quantity, and cultivates an intimate atmosphere far removed from the hustle and bustle of the big Christmas villages. The oldest tree in Paris, a robinia planted in 1601, stands guard over this historic site, which offers a breathtaking view of Notre-Dame. We particularly appreciate this heritage dimension, which makes the visit all the more moving.

What are the opening hours of the Notre-Dame Christmas Market?

The market is open daily from 10am to 8pm, with extended hours until 9pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free and open to all for the duration of the event. We advise you to come early in the evening to enjoy the enchanting illuminations and the musical atmosphere, which starts at 4pm with choirs, jazz and brass bands, depending on the day.

What can you find at the Notre-Dame Christmas Market?

Some forty chalets offer exclusive creations made in France. You'll discover silver and vermeil jewelry, ceramics, textiles, handcrafted leather, wooden toys, handmade candles, hand-painted baubles, knitted silk and cashmere scarves. Each piece is carefully selected for its quality and authenticity, a true tribute to French savoir-faire.

The gastronomic area showcases regional specialties to warm the taste buds. You'll find sausages, foie gras, macaroons, mature cheeses, home-made pastries, nougat, gingerbread, hot chestnuts and, of course, mulled wine. Specialities from the South-West of France will be in the spotlight, with producers coming directly to present their products. A great opportunity to stock up on gourmet treats for the festive season.

What's on for families?

This Christmas market is a real treat for children. Santa comes every day, and you can take a photo with him in a warm and friendly atmosphere. A free, supervised drawing workshop allows children to give free rein to their creativity, with a draw organized every Sunday at 4:30 p.m. to win a soft toy. Christmas tales also enchant the little ones throughout the season.

Live music starts at 4pm and varies from day to day: Christmas choirs, jazz concerts and brass bands. The soundscape really adds to the magic of the place, creating a friendly, festive atmosphere. We particularly love these moments when the music mingles with the scent of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts.

A dimension of solidarity

The market is committed to a worthy cause in partnership with Maison Harmonia, an association that supports autistic children. Part of the proceeds are donated to this association, enabling visitors to combine the pleasure of Christmas shopping with a gesture of solidarity. This dimension adds meaning to every purchase, and is a reminder of the spirit of sharing that characterizes the festive season.

Some artist-craftsmen even create original works inspired by Notre-Dame, such as bas-reliefs inspired by the cathedral's rose windows, or pendants depicting the famous Stryge gargoyle. These exclusive creations are sure to leave you with a unique souvenir of this very special market.

How do I get to the Notre-Dame Christmas Market?

The market is located in Square René Viviani, on the Quai Montebello in the 5th arrondissement. It's easily reached by metro line 4 at Cité or Saint-Michel stations, or by RER B and C at Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station. Several bus lines also serve the area.

The area around Notre-Dame lends itself perfectly to a stroll before or after visiting the market. You can stroll along the banks of the Seine, discover the Shakespeare and Company bookshop just a few yards away, or take in the Christmas lights in Paris, which magnify the area. The Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre church, dating from 1160, is just around the corner and well worth a visit.
