Fans of contemporary art and residents of the town of Pantin are well acquainted with this site along the Ourcq Canal. The Magasins Généraux opened their doors in 2017: this former industrial building has been converted into an art center for Greater Paris.
But before this second life, the Magasins Généraux were a storage hub for various goods sent to Paris. Built in the 1930s, the big building gradually fell into neglect. In the early 2000s, the Magasins were decommissioned and transformed into a “cathedral of graffiti” by street-artists. After several years of work, the site was rehabilitated and turned into a real art center.
This unusual site opens its doors to the public on Saturday, September 19, 2026, to mark the new edition of the Heritage Days. Yes, this major event is back in Paris and Île-de-France!

As part of Heritage Days, Les Magasins Généraux invites you to explore the building's history through a program of guided tours led by Frédéric Jung, the architect behind its rehabilitation, and Patrick Bezzolato, a licensed guide and architect.
The 11:00 a.m. tour is led by Frédéric Jung.
