La Briqueterie de Vitry-sur-Seine participates in Heritage Days on Saturday, September 19, 2026, and invites the public to discover the activities of this National Centre for Choreographic Development.

Passionate about dance, meet at La Briqueterie on Saturday, September 19, 2026. To mark the 43rd edition of the Journées du Patrimoine, on the themes "Heritage of Photography" and "Heritage in Peril", the Centre de développement chorégraphique du Val-de-Marne offers a range of activities and encounters for visitors of all ages. Come and discover this history-soaked building, which today hosts young dancers and artists from across the region.

La Briqueterie is the premier venue for dance creation in the Paris region. Dance companies from all over the world are invited to take up residencies here, where they can develop their techniques in the beautiful setting of a former brickworks, with its large red-brick chimney andarchitecture typical of the second half of the 19th century. Yes, this creative space wasn't always dedicated to art! The brickyard was once a factory, commissioned in 1868 and disused a century later.

On the occasion of the 2026 Heritage Days, La Briqueterie invites everyone to delve into its history and the world of dance.

What’s on the agenda for the 2026 Heritage Days at Briqueterie (94):

  • Guided tours of La Briqueterie CDCN

    ### Discover the history of Gournay's old brickworks, now rehabilitated and transformed into a creation space for contemporary dance.

The Briqueterie CDCN opens its doors wide—its garden, its dance studios—and invites you to a two-voiced visit, in collaboration with the Conseil d’architecture, d’urbanisme et de l’environnement du Val-de-Marne (CAUE94).

Two tour sessions are offered: 2:00–4:00 PM and 4:30–6:00 PM, guided by Franca Malservisi, an architect with CAUE 94, and a Briqueterie mediator. The first tour will bring participants together for a discussion built around a video that forges a close link between dance and architecture; the second will unfold through poetic readings that reveal the place in a new light.

At the end of the second visit, a free performance is offered: Les Femmes, a choral piece drawing on the sung heritage of about fifteen women from the Petit Ivry neighborhood, created by Dalila Belaza, artist-in-residence at the briqueterie.

    Participation requirements: 35 people per visit - Free | Booking required - https://www.labriqueterie.org/agenda/journees-europeennes-du-patrimoine-2026, 0146867070, reservation@labriqueterie.org
