Surrounded by its vast lawns, the Cinémathèque française is a little corner of paradise cherished by cinephiles. Founded in 1936 by Henri Langlois and Georges Franju, the Cinémathèque française is dedicated to safeguarding and restoring the world's cinematographic heritage. And since 2021, a museum dedicated to the inventor of cinematic art, Georges Méliès, has opened its doors within the building, right in the heart of Bercy.
From film history and exhibitions to the great names of the 7th art and little-known anecdotes about filming, the Cinémathèque Française has plenty to delight lovers of the 7th art. Young and old alike are fascinated by the magic of cinema and the impressive collections of the Musée Méliès. Whether you're a cinephile or not, this exceptional weekend is the perfect opportunity to discover the Cinémathèque Française for free- but be warned, some events require compulsory registration!
A magician and inventor of special effects, Georges Méliès is the ideal guide to the history of cinema and special effects, from Metropolis to Hugo Cabret, from Moon Trip to Star Wars.
The Musée Méliès takes visitors on a fabulous journey of pleasure and wonder, through interactive devices, never-before-seen films, props, costumes and rare posters.

Embark on a fantastic voyage of discovery with an immersive investigation at the Musée Méliès. Question our actor-crew members and collect clues to discover the secret of the mysterious Selenite! A journey to be enjoyed alone or with friends and family.

A selection of drawings, photographs, period magazines and models will provide an insight into the profession of chief decorator and an exceptional collection, focusing on Art Deco decor trends in films of the 1920s and 1930s.
Representation of architecture in cinema through Fritz Lang's film Metropolis, the construction of studio sets and the work of great decorators such as Alexandre Trauner, Jacques Saulnier and Pierre Guffroy, through to more recent achievements by contemporary decorators.
