The origins of the building date back to the 18th century. The inner courtyard was probably partially raised in 1894 under the direction of architect Louis Parent. Since the second half of the 19th century, the property has been owned by several families, including the Viscounts of Chézelles. By notarial deed dated December 22, 1949, the Republic of Austria became the owner of the building and grounds.
