The Heritage Days take place this weekend of 19–20 September 2026 in Paris and Île-de-France. Each year, this cultural event invites us to explore our heritage. For the occasion, numerous museums, monuments and castles participate! But the Heritage Days are also a rare opportunity that lets us discover places usually closed to the public. This is notably the case for one of the city’s most famous high schools.
On the occasion of the Heritage Days 2026 in Paris, you can set off to explore the capital’s historic treasures at the Henri IV High School. This institution, renowned for its academic excellence, opens its doors to reveal its buildings designated as historic monuments.
Did you know that the Lycée Henri IV stands on the site of the formerAbbey of Sainte-Geneviève? At the crossroads of the medieval and Baroque worlds, the Oratoire, the Cabinet des Médailles and the immense library of the Génovéfains are among the legendary rooms of theformer Abbaye Sainte-Geneviève . These historic rooms, dating from the 12th to 18th centuries, take us back in time!
