European Heritage Days 2022 at the Eglise de la Madeleine in Paris

It is one of the very symbols of the 8^th arrondissement: the Eglise de la Madeleine opens its monumental doors on September 17 and 18, 2022, for European Heritage Days. This religious building, of neo-classic style, was designed by Napoleon I to honor his imperial army.

Built between the 18th and 19^th centuries, this monumental church enjoys a surprising story and original architecture. Thought like a Greek temple, the church could have been changed into a train station. The greatest artists of the 19^th century took part in the project to make of this church a genuine work of art inspired by the greatest monuments of Ancient Greece.
