From Paris's 1st arrondissement to the Grands Boulevards, the covered passageways and shopping galleries take us into a parallel world, allowing us to explore the capital's right bank in a whole new light. Most of these passages were built in the 19th century, in the commercial districts of Paris where wealthy customers liked to stroll.
These covered streets and galleries are home to many original boutiques, art galleries and museums, restaurants, cafés and various curiosities that make these passages exciting sightseeing tours.
Antiques, Art Deco, "Little India", fashion: each passage has its own particularity, its own identity that makes it so special. Sometimes hidden away, these galleries are easily overlooked by the uninitiated. So take every opportunity to (re)discover them!
The "Passages et Galeries" association organizes free guided tours of Paris's covered passageways.
3 circuits are proposed to discover these secret places:
* Parisian life
* Paris and its Grand Boulevards
* Historic Paris
Galerie Vivienne
