The Asile Impérial, built by architect Laval at the request of Napoleon III and inaugurated in 1859, is little-known.
With its 31-hectare surface area, chapel, workshops, vegetable garden and dairy farm, the establishment was self-sufficient and offered its residents the possibility of complete rest in an unspoilt setting.
Inaugurated in 1859 by the Duke of Padua, it welcomed convalescent female workers.
In 1949, it became an Établissement National de Convalescence, and in 1993 was renamed Hôpital du Vésinet.

From the old royal forests to the elegant villas of the Belle Époque, from the artists who have lived here to the residents who have shaped its identity, from the first schools to the cultural centers, from the theater to the buildings that structure the town. Let us take you on a journey through the history of Le Vésinet.

Discover a selection of archives retracing 50 years of passion at Le Vésinet's theater and cinema. Posters, photos and testimonials plunge you into the living history of two emblematic cultural venues, reflecting five decades of artistic creation and sharing.
Special theater tour
Get a behind-the-scenes look at how the theater works. Anecdotes, superstitions, the hazards of live performance... nothing will be a secret to you!
The backstage of the cinema is set, and acting is yours! Spotlight on sound effects, dubbing and music! In this fun workshop, you'll create and combine all the sound effects, voice dubbing and music for an excerpt from a silent film. Everything is improvised and recorded live, then replayed at the end of the session under the orchestration of Jean-Carl Feldis.
Conference on the painter Maurice Utrillo and his work by volunteers from the Société d'Histoire, who lived in Le Vésinet for 18 years at the villa La Bonne Lucie.
A tribute will also be paid to his mother Suzanne Valadon.
2025 will mark the 70th anniversary of the artist's death.
