The Journées du Patrimoine are back for their 40th edition! This exceptional event, which usually takes place on the third weekend in September, is a real treat for all those who enjoy cultural visits and are eager to discover new things. This event, which takes place all over Europe, invites us to enjoy a program, often free or inexpensive, of original visits, events and workshops, designed for young and old alike, at the heart of our most beautiful heritage treasures. All kinds of venues are taking part: cultural establishments including museums, castles and historic monuments, addresses usually closed to the public, fashion houses, temples of craftsmanship, and much more!
Even hospitals are taking part in the Journées du Patrimoine ballet. And in Paris, one ofEurope's largest hospitals is revealing its secrets through a special program scheduled for the weekend of September 16 and 17, 2023. Today, the Pitié Salpétrière Hospital stands out for its gargantuan proportions, with 90 buildings spread over 33 hectares, and its history is far from recent: its origins date back to the 16th century, and its famous chapel was commissioned by none other than the Sun King, Louis XIV.
