Every September is different: the end of the vacations, the start of the new school year, the arrival of rain andautumn, falling temperatures... And yet, if there's one thing we never tire of in September, it's the Journées du Patrimoine, which return every year in mid-September.
So, on Saturday the 19th and Sunday, September 20, 2026, join us in Paris and across the Île-de-France region to discover the most beautiful churches, some of our places of power, the grand Parisian institutions, the secret corners of the capital... Or, in some artist studios that will open their doors exclusively for these Heritage Days 2026.
In the 14th arrondissement, theClaude de Soria studio bears the name of the sculptress who owned it. After studying under famous artists such as Fernand Léger (painting) and Ossip Zadkine (sculpture), Claude de Soria specialized in abstract sculpture. Her studio in the 14th arrondissement opened to the public for the first time in 2022 after extensive renovations: since then, you can also discover it during the Journées du Patrimoine and learn more about the many works Claude de Soria left behind, in the studio where she created on a daily basis.
Guided tour inside the Claude de Soria Workshop
The event sits at the heart of the centenary of Claude de Soria’s birth (1926-2015), offering a privileged opportunity to rediscover her work and her workshop. Special attention is given to the visual and documentary dimension of the site. For its 43rd edition in 2026, an exceptional selection of photographs dedicated to Claude de Soria and her workshop will be showcased. Shot since the 1960s by various photographers, including André Morain and Gérard Rondeau, among others, these images provide a poignant glimpse of the artist at work and the evolution of her oeuvre across the decades.
Nestled in the Montparnasse district of Paris, the sculptor Claude de Soria’s workshop stands as a rare space for discovery, research, and transmission. Close to the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, where the artist studied under André Lhote, as well as the Zadkine Museum and the former Fernand Léger studio—three pivotal landmarks in her trajectory—this site invites immersion in a distinctive body of work, largely centered on cement as a material of creation.
After booking your visit slot, you’ll explore the studio where Claude de Soria conceived much of her oeuvre. The tour spans nearly 2,000 unique pieces, along with preparatory drawings, archives, working documents, and substantial documentation gathered over her lifetime. Visitors also gain access to her “imaginary museum,” a mirror of her inspirations and personal universe.
At the crossroads of a creative space, an exhibition venue, a library specializing in art history, and a temporary residence for writers, screenwriters, and researchers, the workshop remains today a vibrant place for reflection and dialogue around art.
