The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) take place every year at in September , offering a fabulous weekend of cultural discoveries. During this not-to-be-missed event, visitors to museums, monuments, castles, churches, institutions and other places usually closed to the public can enjoy a wide range of activities. A program of events, often free of charge, awaits young and old alike during this exceptional weekend. Want to make the most of it? It's an opportunity to explore the heritage of the Île-de-France region, particularly in Essonne. And in the town of Saclay, a number of programs await us to discover the treasures of this commune in the 91 region. Located south-west of Paris, Saclay is home to a number of scientific research institutions and grandes écoles, as well as several historic monuments. Ornithological Observatory
Discover the ornithological treasures of Saclay's ponds.
Located on the north shore of the Etang Vieux, the ornithological observatory is a large "nest" on stilts emerging from the reed beds. The Saclay ponds, classified as a Conventional Nature Reserve (RNC), are home to both migratory and breeding birds.
