Calling all bread lovers: the Hermitage oven in Pontoise invites you to visit and sample its crusty bread during the Journées du Patrimoine 2025, on September 20 and 21, 2025.

Lovers of Impressionist paintings know that many of them, particularly those by Pissarro, Corot, Daumier, Cézanne, Dupré, Daubigny, Piette, Gauguin and Van Gogh, were inspired by the landscapes of Pontoise and the surrounding area.

A visit to Pontoise, Auvers-sur-Oise or l'Isle-Adam is the perfect way to stroll through the gardens and forests that served as models for the greatest painters, and to enjoy the rich and varied flora. But Pontoise is also famous for its market-gardening and wine-growing past, which once flourished around the Hastrel press.

Not far from the last troglodytic houses of the Hermitage is the Hermitage oven, an unusual place that opens its doors for the Journées du Patrimoine 2025, on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21.

It's an opportunity for bakery enthusiasts to get their hands dirty and bake bread the old-fashioned way... before enjoying it, of course! Discover the detailed program of the Journées du Patrimoine 2025 at the Hermitage bakery below!
