If you live in Seine-et-Marne and would like to discover an unusual place, then head for the commune of Villenoy to push open the doors of the famous conical anti-aircraft shelter. Described as a unique monument on a national scale, the Villenoy conical air-raid shelter was awarded the Heritage of Regional Interest label in November 2021.
Built in 1939-1940, this air-raid shelter is distinguished by its 18-metre-high conical silhouette. Its cone is visible from the back of the Hôtel de Ville park. Another special feature? The shelter has 8 levels and could house up to 120 people.
The Villenoy conical air-raid shelter is full of anecdotes and secrets. Come and discover them during the European Heritage Days on September 20, 2025.
Witness to the 1939-1940 period, this unusual conical shelter, 18 meters high and the only one of its kind in France, was intended to shelter sugar factory personnel during air raids.
