During the Journées du Patrimoine 2025, discover the work of sculptor Paul Belmondo, father of the famous actor, at the Boulogne-Billancourt museum dedicated to him. Here's the program!

The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) is the September event for history and discovery enthusiasts of all kinds! Take in the museums, gardens, institutions, churches and curiosities of Paris and the surrounding départements over the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025. A golden opportunity to learn a whole host of anecdotes during guided tours and events, many of which are free of charge!

Why not take a trip to Boulogne-Billancourt in the Hauts-de-Seine region of France? There's a little-known yet fascinating museum dedicated to sculpture and Paul Belmondo, whose surname will certainly remind you of the actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, the most famous member of the family. But Belmondo's father was an eminent 20th-century sculptor! At the heart of this museum, inspired by cabinets of curiosities, you can discover a unique collection resulting from a donation made by his children to the town in 2007.

Inaugurated in 2010, the museum presents 263 sculptures and sculpture molds, 452 medals and preparatory works, 966 drawings and a studio collection of sketches, sketchbooks, tools and furniture, in a sober, intimate atmosphere, where you can also visit the storerooms that bear witness to the artist's preparatory work.

From branches to trunks, via the roots he uses, the chainsaw cuts activate the speed of movement in the material. Far from the idea of the sublime and the ideal, the artist goes beyond the classical canons to keep the figure in balance, whatever its center of gravity. Occupying space, the air we breathe and the ideas we project into it, sculpture vibrates and comes alive.
