Heritage Days 2025 at the Pavilion of Projects

  • A discussion of the work of Chloé Quenum: The Madness of Seguin Island

    With the participation of :

    * Chloé Quenum, artist; Robert Kosmann, former Renault-Billancourt worker;

    * Emmanuelle Dupuy, former secretary and typist at Renault-Billancourt, feminist activist; Daniel Théry, former engineer, president of AMETIS;

    * Arezki Amazouz, former skilled worker (OS) at Renault-Billancourt, president of ATRIS.

    * Moderation: Martin Guinard, artistic director of “Voyage en Industries”

    First piece in the artistic journey “Voyage en Industries,” La Folie de l’île Seguin grew out of a close dialogue between artist Chloé Quenum and former Renault-Billancourt workers. Installed near the Daydé Bridge, which once led to the entrance of the Seguin island factory, it is made from spare parts sourced from Renault models produced before the site’s closure.

    Completed in the summer of 2026 and unveiled to the public on the occasion of the Daydé Bridge opening, La Folie de l’île Seguin will be at the heart of this meeting. The artist and several witnesses of Renault-Billancourt’s industrial history will share behind-the-scenes stories of the work’s creation, their memories of the site, and the exchanges that fed the project.

    The gathering, held at the Pavilion of Projects, will be followed by a guided tour of the work, in the presence of the artist and the witnesses.

  • Guided tour “Discovering the Sculptures of Île Seguin” with an artistic surprise

    The new public spaces on Île Seguin, gradually opening from January to July 2026, host a remarkable collection of contemporary sculptures that engage with the site’s history and landscapes.

    The Parc départemental Gauthier Mougin’s art trail explores ideas of trace, memory and imprint through works by Peter Stampfli, Marta Pan, Didier Marcel, Jacques Villeglé, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, among others. On the forecourt of Pointe des Arts, pieces in varied visual languages, including works by Erik Dietman and Stefan Rinck, invite a sensitive and playful exploration.

    Arriving on Île Seguin via the Daydé Bridge is marked by an original creation from Chloé Quenum, La Folie de l’île Seguin, honoring the former Renault factory workers. This work is also associated with the “Create” stop on the “Voyage en Industries” route.

    Set off to discover these works that turn Île Seguin into a genuine open-air museum, made possible thanks to the support of the Hauts-de-Seine Department, the City of Boulogne-Billancourt, the Emerige Endowment Fund, the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP) and the Île-de-France Regional Fund for Contemporary Art (FRAC).

    At the end of your visit, an artistic surprise awaits… keep your eyes peeled!

  • Interview with artist Stefan Shankland: a “Marble From Here” sculpture for the heart of Billancourt Park

    Stefan Shankland’s work draws on natural and human transformation processes that shape the landscape. Flossile is a horizontal sculpture conceived for Billancourt Park, built from more than 25 tons of rubble recovered from demolition and construction sites that are reconfiguring the district. At ground level, the mineral image it creates suggests, in turn, the flows and meanders of a river, geological strata, or the traces of the automotive industry that have traversed and shaped Boulogne-Billancourt over the 20th century.

    Starting in 2025, the creation of this nearly 65-meter-long piece enters a decisive phase: on-site production, which will run through November 2026. On this occasion, come meet Stefan Shankland near the project site to discover his approach, chat with him, and see the project as it takes shape.

  • Family workshop for children aged 6–11: “Memory Madness”

    For more than a century, the story of Île Seguin has been inseparably linked to Renault. The island was a shipyard-scale factory, home to foundry, forge, textile, rubber, and cardboard workshops that produced a multitude of industrial parts. It’s from reproductions of some of these parts that Chloé Quenum has revived the tale and created her work, "Seguin’s Folly." Through a collection of shapes and textures, children will craft their own Folly, linking memory with imagination, the past with the present, and history with inspiration. To do this, students will build a scale model using a cardboard frame, and a materials kit will be provided.
