In the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the Maison La Roche will be one of the highlights of the cultural event on Saturday, September 20. Built between 1923 and 1925 by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, this villa is a manifesto of architectural purism. Commissioned by Raoul La Roche, it combines an art gallery and private apartments, and embodies the five fundamentals of modernarchitecture: pilotis, a free facade, long windows, a roof-garden and an open-plan interior, all sculpted in reinforced concrete with wild audacity. Classified as a historic monument in 1996 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016, the Maison La Roche is now alive with contemporary exhibitions that give it a real facelift.
Guided tours every 30 minutes, last admission 4pm.
### Exhibition: Liliane Tomasko
At Maison La Roche, Liliane Tomasko presents recent abstract paintings in dialogue with Le Corbusier's architecture. Between dynamic gestures, angular forms and organic references, the artist explores the relationship between space, structure and perception, establishing a strong link between contemporary pictorial language and modernist heritage.
### Maison La Roche :
Designed and built between 1923 and 1925 by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, the Maison La Roche was widely photographed and admired from the late 20s onwards. Like all Purist villas, it helped establish Le Corbusier as the master of modern architecture. In accordance with the wishes of its owner, Raoul La Roche, the house was divided into two parts: the gallery, which displayed his collection of paintings, and his private apartments.
The Maison La Roche and the Maison Jeanneret are part of a series of 17 Le Corbusier World Heritage sites.
