The town of Noisiel is taking part in the Journées du Patrimoine 2025, telling the story of its Cité ouvrière on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21!
A small town of medieval origins, located in the Seine-et-Marne region, Noisiel is home to an astonishing and highly attractive piece of heritage. On the banks of the Marne, you'll find the formerMenier chocolate factory and its Cité ouvrière, remnants of France's great 19th-century industries.
Although the Chocolaterie stopped making chocolate in 1990, the site remains unique: in Noisiel, you'll discover an exceptional heritage, formed by the Chocolaterie and the workers' housing estate founded in 1874, which provided 312 families with a healthy living environment - with agricultural estates, a school complex, retirement homes and even a private fire department. The site is listed as a historic monument, so that theMenier Empire can be seen by all without risk of damage.

The Ancienne Chocolaterie site is a fine example of industrial architecture from the 1860s to the 1920s. Rehabilitated in 1993 by Reichen & Robert for Nestlé France, it is now the subject of an urban requalification program. Come and discover the quality of this architecture and the history of the factory of yesteryear.
Visits every hour from 09:30.
If you have the time, you can also take advantage of the other events on offer in Noisiel over the weekend: guided tours of the town's heritage, original activities and games, and an exhibition are all on the Heritage Days program.
Shall we go, friends?
