Heritage Days 2026: Tour of the National Assembly, registration required

On the occasion of Heritage Days in Paris, the National Assembly will open its doors on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 September 2026. On the program: self-guided tours of the Palais Bourbon and the Hôtel de Lassay. Note: these tours are available by registration only.

Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) bring a smile to the faces of many curious visitors, who are delighted to be able to (re)discover the wealth of France'sheritage . For two days in September, museums, churches, castles , theaters and other institutions open their doors to the general public free of charge, offering guided or self-guided tours, as well as a variety of other activities.

This year, the Heritage Days are a must in Paris and Île-de-France, taking place on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, 2026, and promise two thrilling days with a rich, exclusive program.

For those with a passion for politics, theNational Assembly is the place to be. As part of the Journées du Patrimoine, the institution is once again opening its doors to reveal what goes on behind the scenes of power, and the national heritage preserved in this mecca of French politics.

Built in 1728 by the Duchesse de Bourbon, the two buildings of theAssemblée Nationale were soon considered"the city's greatest ornament after the royal houses". Today, the two buildings house the Chamber of Deputies and the residence of the President of the Assembly. While the Palais underwent major transformations in the 19th century, such as the creation ofa "sugar loaf" roof and a peristyle of twelve columns, which totally altered its architecture, drawings and models preserved in the library allow us to better appreciate the building's primary style, similar to the Grand Trianon. Please note, however, that admission is by registration only. So don't forget to register in advance on the Assemblée Nationale website.

On the occasion of European Heritage Days, the National Assembly opens its doors wide to you on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026.

You will be able to visit the Palais Bourbon, notably the Hemicycle and the recently restored library, with its majestic ceilings painted by Delacroix, and to step into the salons of the Hôtel de Lassay, seat of the Presidency of the National Assembly.
