The Musée National de la Marine takes us on a voyage to the seven seas of the world, with its exceptional collections of statues, paintings, models, photographs, outfits and navigation equipment. The museum recounts the history and importance of the navy to France, in a thematic tour.
This museum, next door to musée de l'Homme, is located on the Place du Trocadéro in Paris. It will be opening its doors free of charge on September 20 and 21, 2025, for the 42nd Journées du Patrimoine. Throughout the weekend, visitors young and old can take part in special events and tours.
Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) give us the opportunity to explore new cultural and historical sites in Paris and the Île-de-France region. Museums, castles, places of worship, gardens, department stores, backstage public transport systems, ministries and parliaments, historic monuments and artisan workshops all play their part, to the delight of the curious and the passionate.
Embark on a musical journey aboard one of the legendary liners!
Come and discover a selection of works from the perspective of maritime architectural heritage, with mediators posted along the collections route.
Discover the interior design of a famous transatlantic liner: the France. Like real interior designers, imagine the decor of a liner cabin and create a pop-up model (using the art of Kirigami, a cutting and folding technique).
Around two works from the museum's reserves, museum professionals present their skills and know-how.
A sculpture, acquired by the museum in 2023, is presented exclusively at this event, which highlights the richness of our collections.
Discover Joseph Vernet's views of French ports from the perspective of monumental and naval architecture.
Le programme est mis à jour en fonction des annonces officielles.
Many other museums take part in this festive annual event: choose your next outing from our special selection!
