Organized around three main themes - Who are we? where do we come from? and Where are we going?- the museum explores the origins of Man, taking in our evolution fromNeanderthal man toHomo Sapiens, before closing the tour of the permanent collections with an open-ended reflection on the future of Man. The Galerie de l'Homme takes you back in time, where you'll come across reproductions of skeletons, traditional costumes and mannequins.
Among its permanent collections, the Musée de l'Homme boasts a number of treasures, some of which can be found in the Treasure Room, where you'll find the famous Lespugue Venus and, not far away, the skeletons of original Neanderthal men and women.
Families will love discovering the museum's permanent collections with the free children's game booklets (there are two, one for little ones aged 4 to 6 and one for older children aged 7 to 11), designed as a treasure hunt in the heart of the museum. Creative workshops, family tours and other activities for children are also offered during the vacations, at weekends and on certain Wednesdays.
The Musée de l'Homme is open every day except Tuesday, from 11am to 7pm. Admission is €13 full price, €10 concessions, and free for children under 26. The museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Entrance to the museum is from Rue Benjamin Franklin. For public transport, we recommend taking lines 6 and 9 (Trocadéro station).
