Attention to urban art fans! After editions staged in Los Angeles, New York, Shanghai and London, the marquee exhibition "Beyond the Streets" lands at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, running from May 27 to August 30, 2026.
With "Beyond the Streets", don’t expect to discover a mere exhibition. Prepare for a truly immersive experience dedicated to urban culture. Here you’ll, of course, encounter flagship and previously unseen works by indispensable street art and graffiti artists, such as Futura 2000, Shepard Fairey, Invader, JonOne, André Saraiva, Felipe Pantone, Mister Cartoon or Vhils and Yoshi Omori. Over more than 3,600 square meters, visitors can admire the works of over 100 artists, including murals, monumental sculptures, photographs, and archival videos, such as JR’s.
But the exhibition "Beyond the Streets" takes things a step further, inviting visitors to dive into sets built especially for the occasion. Crafted like real film stages, these spaces deliver a visual journey through the atmospheres of London, New York, and Paris. The aim? To show how this movement, long deemed underground, has shaped contemporary visual culture across the globe.
The journey begins as you enter the Grande Halle de la Villette, greeted by the rhythm of the metro and a train car perched on the upper level. A little farther in, you’ll encounter an immense mural by JonOne, then a singular gallery dedicated to the uniquely imaginative world of Shepard Fairey, followed by two sublime works from Californian artist Ozzie Juarez, and finally the piece by Nadya Tolokonnikova, the Siberian-born artist and activist.
The exhibition "Beyond the Streets" also promises to surprise visitors with its various immersive installations, all designed to engage with the space. Head to "The Cosmic Cave" by Kenny Scharf. Here, brace yourself for a psychedelic experience where neon lights and found objects flood a space transformed into a colorful, playful grotto. Just next door, don’t miss "The Marionette Workshop" by Paul Insect. An opportunity to discover characters often influenced by music and graffiti culture. For a plunge into the universe of a graffiti artist, explore the "Chamber of Vandals", and for an optical experience, head to the room of the renowned Felipe Pantone. Also come admire "Freight Train" by Tim Conlon, famous for his wagon frescoes.
You’ll have guessed it, "Beyond the Streets" doesn’t just showcase urban artworks. Through iconic works, archives, and immersive installations, the show aims to trace the evolution of graffiti and street art in all its facets. So don’t expect to simply wander past murals by city artists at the Grande Halle de la Villette. The exhibition also dedicates a portion of its journey to the music that helped spark this underground scene. While the ground floor allocates a space to the mythical American group Beastie Boys, with archives and rare items on display, the first level revisits the history of French hip-hop. T-shirts from French rap, drawn from Driss Dendoune’s collection, are on view. A little further on, the exhibition also features several outfits worn by designer Dapper Dan, who dressed the hip-hop scene for years.
With an exhibition space of more than 3,600 m², you might have expected to see more works on site. But "Beyond the Streets" aims above all to offer visitors a genuine experience, with monumental creations and immersive installations. The event also takes pride in guiding us through its various settings. The music, ranging from rap to rock, is almost omnipresent, making the experience even more immersive. So what about the pricing? You should still budget €26.90 (adult entry) to explore the exhibition—a relatively steep price compared with other events. Yet once again, "Beyond the Streets" bets on originality with sets specially designed for the occasion. The event, which aims to be "kids-friendly", also offers a €15 child ticket.
Finally, for the most avid collectors, a concept store curated by Sarah Andelman will offer on-site and online sales of limited editions, lithographs, and exclusive collaborations throughout the entire run of the event.
