Intellectual property protects creations and both technical and artistic inventions. Yet it isn’t always respected... And it’s not the musée de la Contrefaçon that would tell you otherwise! On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, which takes place this Sunday, April 26, 2026, the Parisian museum offers a special guided tour into the surprising world of intellectual property.
Usually closed on weekends, the Counterfeit Museum will open its doors this Sunday for a special, themed program.
In the morning, an interactive guided tour (paid and by reservation) drags us into the labyrinth of counterfeit goods and their expanding presence in every facet of daily life. What is counterfeiting, how to recognize it, how to fight the phenomenon, what risks for consumers—these are the questions the museum aims to answer through an educational journey.
Starting at 2 p.m., the Counterfeiting Museum opens to everyone gratuitement! A self-guided tour amid the collections, inviting us to distinguish real from fake.
If you’ve never set foot in this little-known, offbeat museum in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, seize the opportunity to discover it. And beware of counterfeit notes: bookings are online at the Counterfeiting Museum website.
