After exhibitions built from brightly colored bricks around the dinosaurs, Star Wars, sports, Harry Potter, and space... a new, creatively bold show lands in Paris at the Espace Champerret. The Belgian artist Dirk Denoyelle unveils his original works crafted from building bricks, running from May 23 to August 16, 2026.
The exhibition Bricks of Wonder features over 150 original constructions that should resonate with every generation. Dirk Denoyelle has crafted portraits of fictional or real stars, rendered in 2D and 3D, using thousands of colorful bricks. Visitors encounter striking portraits of Michael Jackson, Mr Bean, Will Smith, Charlie Chaplin, Ed Sheeran, Leonardo da Vinci... The artist has also reimagined famous paintings and works, drawing inspiration from Van Gogh, Rubens, and Dali.
But that's not all! Along the route, visitors are invited to take in landscapes and playful tableaux featuring countless tiny figures, brick-built animals, and architectural structures... Dirk Denoyelle showcases the full breadth of his creative talents and the versatility of these building bricks, which can serve as an artistic medium just as painting or ceramics can.
This exhibition is designed as a playful stroll, especially suited for children : these young visitors enjoy a scavenger hunt and a large play area, where they have building bricks to imagine their own sculptures. You won't be taking the creation home afterward; you’ll have to leave the creation at the Champerret space.
Warning: although these works are made from toy bricks, please do not touch them. Some areas are interactive, and you’ll see the notice on nearby placards. If nothing is indicated, admire them with your eyes—no touching.
Take your time to study each installation: the artist has hidden a wealth of small amusing details that the sharp-eyed will spot. Whether in the original pieces or in the large, reimagined works, Dirk Denoyelle brings the same care and meticulous attention to detail. Every piece can appeal to both kids and adults. On the wall plaques, you’ll discover the number of bricks and hours required to build a work: the figures are impressive!
The exhibition is expected to attract a large crowd: the visit can be frustrating due to the crowds. We recommend avoiding peak visiting times, especially if you’re coming with young children.
A must-see for fans of the famous building bricks and the kid in everyone. Discover it this summer in Hall B of Espace Champerret.
