As part of the 42nd Heritage Days, the Musée des arts et métiers is offering free tours and events focusing on the world's great inventions, for young and old alike. Join us on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, 2025, to enjoy the program of this new edition of a not-to-be-missed cultural event.
The permanent collection at the Musée des arts et métiers is a big hit with children, because it takes them on a journey through time to discover some of the greatest inventions and techniques in the history of science: scientific instruments, materials, construction, communication, energy, mechanics and transport - thousands ofobjects that revolutionized their era are on display in a beautiful building.
In all, the tour is divided into seven collections (scientific instruments, materials, construction, communication, energy, and mechanics and transport), subdivided into four chronological periods (before 1750, 1750-1850, 1850-1950 and after 1950). Curious visitors can also discover Lavoisier's laboratory, Foucault's pendulum and the automaton theater.
This workshop lets toddlers put their creativity to the test by manipulating giant bricks: from building to walking, anything is possible!
Kapla, a large-scale construction workshop! Take up the challenge and build buildings and houses straight from your imagination. This workshop is offered in collaboration with the Centre Kapla de Paris.
These flash visits are an opportunity for the public to (re)discover emblematic objects from our collections, as well as the architectural setting in which they are displayed.
During the visit, children learn about the different trades involved in building in the Middle Ages. Then, during the workshop, they'll build an arch or a house using playmaïs.
On this tour, children and their parents discover the secrets of cathedral builders and the skills of medieval craftsmen. In the workshop, children create a stained-glass window using colored paper.
