This is one of the Hauts-de-Seine department's most cherished heritage sites, which you can visit free of charge during the Journées du Patrimoine 2025. The Musée Albert-Kahn and its gardens, housed in the former residence of banker and philanthropist Albert Kahn in Boulogne-Billancourt, welcome us on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, 2025. Built by landscape architect Achille Duchêne on a four-hectare site in Boulogne-Billancourt, the site is an architectural and landscaped gem.

An opportunity to learn more about the place and Albert Kahn, a colorful character. He founded Les Archives de la Planète, a company responsible for immortalizing the world's jewels in autochrome (the first color photographs). Albert Kahn was also passionate about plants. He therefore wanted to create a garden open to the public, showcasing every garden style in the world. In all, 6 gardens provide an exhaustive presentation of the art of gardening: a French garden, a Japanese garden with its tea pavilion, an English garden, a Vosges forest, a blue forest with its central marsh and a golden forest with its birch trees.
When it went bankrupt in 1932, the residence was seized, but was soon bought by the Prefecture of the Seine, which wished to continue welcoming the public to the gardens. The mansion was then converted into a museum, to display a fine selection of the 72,000 autochromes and thousands of hours of film produced by the ten photographers hired by Albert Kahn.

Introductory tour of the Mondes en commun Festival and its garden
Are you familiar with the Archives of the Planet? This vast visual inventory of the world, launched by Albert Kahn, now takes on fresh resonance through the eyes of today’s photographers.
The guided tour invites you to explore this ambitious project along with a selection of photographs from the eleven series on display. Integrated into Albert Kahn’s garden, the images unfold as you move through the space. The Mondes en Commun festival, continuing Kahn’s inventory, brings together 10 photographers around a common theme: the visual inventory of the world and its variations as reflected in the museum’s collections.

Meeting and Discussion: The Fossils of the Future
At 3:00 p.m., the museum welcomes the Tara Ocean Foundation and artist Laure Winants for an exceptional screening that delves into her work on fragile landscapes and the transformations of life. Through a documentary that blends science, art, and keen observation, the event ties in with the national theme “Heritage at Risk.”
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Laure Winants to interrogate our links to endangered ecosystems and the forms of vigilance that art can inspire.

A mysterious figure threatens Albert Kahn's ambitious project! It's up to you to lead the investigation and uncover which one of his guests or staff tried to derail his new travel initiative.
As you wander the museum’s spaces, collect clues, crack the puzzles, and face the challenges set by the players. This immersive experience will also let you rediscover the museum’s collections by plunging you into the world of the Archives of the Planet.
Observation, logic, and perceptiveness will be your strongest allies in unmasking the culprit!
