They're everyday heroes, braving flames, saving lives: Val d'Oise firefighters deserve their own museum! The good news is that this museum is opening its doors to us on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, for the Journées du Patrimoine 2025.
On this occasion, the Val d'Oise Departmental Fire Brigade Museum is free for all to visit. Over 1,200m² of exhibition space showcases fire-fighting equipment from the 18th century to the present day, including hand pumps, vehicles, motor-driven pumps and breathing apparatus. One room traces the history of outfits, helmets and headgear from 1830 to 1960. A children's room features an impressive collection of toys, the oldest dating back to the 19th century.
Formerly housed in the Osny fire station, the museum's collection was moved to the stables of the Château de Grouchy in 1999. Here, you'll discover a wide range of equipment and objects tracing the history and heritage of the "soldiers of fire", from the 18th century to the present day. Hand pumps, vehicles, motor-driven pumps and breathing apparatus are all on display in 1200m² of exhibition space.
For this special weekend, the museum has planned special events, to be discovered during these JEP 2025:
The museum will be open free of charge on both days. Concerts by the departmental brass band, Sunday September 21 from 2pm to 5pm.
An unusual and original family outing!
