New year, new projects! And some of you are certainly already thinking about your next and future getaways. The problem is, after the summer and Christmas vacations, you've got very few days off. Don't panic, in France we're lucky enough to have 11 public holidays, including Easter Monday, May 1st, May 8th,Ascension Day and July 14th. Sometimes, when the calendar is mild, these public holidays can even be used as bridging days. So, is the 2024 calendar conducive to long weekends? Find out what's in store!
There are4 three-day weekends on the calendar for the new year 2024: Easter weekend (Monday, April 1), Pentecost weekend ( Monday, May 20) - only if you're one of the lucky ones who don't work on that day, then All Saints' weekend ( Friday, November 1, 2024), and finally November 11 weekend ( a Monday). Combined, these extended weekends will give you 12 days off!
For the remaining public holidays, several bridges or long weekends will be possible. For example, the month of May is likely to put a smile on the faces of many French people, as May 8 falls on a Wednesday (as does May 1), followed the next day byAscension Day (May 9). So, by taking just three days off (May 6, 7 and 10), you'll be able to enjoy 9 consecutive days off!
Another interesting date in the coming calendar?Assumption Day, which will be a Thursday in 2024. So, if you take Friday off, you'll have 4 days off. As for Christmas, December 25 will fall on a Wednesday this year, i.e. in the middle of the week.
On the other hand, there will be no extended weekend for Bastille Day, which falls on a Sunday this summer.

As many French children prepare to head back to school, a decree published in the Journal Officiel (the French official gazette) unveils, zone by zone, the school vacation schedule for the year 2023-2024.
