It's a great time of year for long weekends. WhileAscension Day is a major religious holiday for Christians, Thursday May 9, 2024 is also a public holiday for many. As a result, many French people take advantage of Ascension Day to escape to the four corners of France, or even abroad for a change of scene.
But will parents be able to make the most of this long weekend, or will they have to take their children to school on Friday May 10? Will students be on Ascension Day 2024? The answer is provided by the Ministry of Education, which, in its calendar of school vacations for the year, specifies that " pupils will not have classes on Friday May 10 and Saturday May 11 ", whether you belong to zone A, B or C.

Also, this year, children will be able to take advantage of the Ascension Day bridge, and therefore of a long 5-day weekend, as Ascension Day is preceded this year by May 8, also a public holiday. Students in all zones and at all levels (schools, collèges and lycées) will therefore be on vacation on the evening of Tuesday May 7, 2024, after school. School will resume on Monday May 13, 2024.
