Lockdown is back. In Paris and Île-de-France; it seems like the sequel of an already too-familiar saga. With the progressive implementation of new restrictions, new closures, and the always-growing occupation rate in ICU in hospitals, we feel like this is something of a déjà-vu in the Parisian area, but from a few differences.
As France is hit by the second coronavirus epidemic wave, the capital and its surroundings are part of the areas where the situation looks even more worrying. During his televised address, Emmanuel Macron announced France will be placed back into national lockdown.
So, what to expect in the Paris area? This second lockdown seems a bit lighter than the first one. Then, unlike the first lockdown, not all schools are closing: daycares, schools, junior highs and high schools remain open with reinforced health protocols.
During this new lockdown, working from home is generalized again and subject to a certificate from the employers when workers are allowed to move around to go to work. Last but not least, as for the derogatory trip grounds, they are similar to those implemented in March, or more recently during curfew: to go first-necessity shopping, or help someone from your family or even for medical grounds.
