Roads across Île-de-France are experiencing an especially intense episode of traffic jams on this Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Nearly 440 kilometers of congestion had been reported just before 9 a.m., according to Sytadin. The Paris ring road and several major routes around Paris are in the red zone, making travel particularly challenging for drivers in the Île-de-France region.
Let’s be honest, driving in Île-de-France this morning is a real challenge. Since early hours, the traffic congestion has been skyrocketing, with the overall delays reported by Sytadin nearing record levels. The ring road is especially affected, as it often is during rush hour, but today, the situation feels even more intense than usual. Major routes into Paris, including the A1, A4, A6, and A13, are extremely congested as well. So, if you're still at home and able to postpone your trip, this might be a good day to give it a try.
Morning commutes like this are all too familiar in the Paris region, but that doesn’t make the experience any easier. With ongoing construction on multiple thoroughfares and the usual rush-hour traffic, the situation can feel overwhelming. The best bet is either to brace yourself and wait it out or, for the lucky few, to opt for public transportation via the RATP and Transilien networks, which remain a viable alternative on days like this.
And it's not over yet: drivers traveling along the N12 should start planning their routes in the coming days. From Monday, February 23 at 10 a.m. until Friday, February 27, 2026 at 4 p.m., the N12 towards Paris from the provinces will be closed around the clock between the towns of Méré and Plaisir, in the Yvelines (78). Then, from Monday, March 2 at 10 a.m. to Friday, March 6, 2026 at 4 p.m., the Paris-to-province direction will be shut down between Plaisir and Neauphle-le-Vieux, continuously, both day and night. It’s clear that regular commuters will need to plan alternative routes to navigate around this extensive closure.
We recommend checking Sytadin regularly to keep up with real-time traffic conditions and adjust your plans accordingly. The Bison Futé website is also a useful tool for forecasting upcoming traffic patterns over the next few days. For those thinking of switching to public transport, the Île-de-France Mobilités app is a handy resource for planning your route and avoiding surprises. Stay safe to everyone on the road this morning!
