The snow returned to Paris and the Ile-de-France region on Monday January 8. On Tuesday January 9, the flakes continued to fall, surprising motorists. Take care on the roads in the Paris region and the north-west this Tuesday morning.
Météo France has placed 9 départements under vigilance orange for snow and freezing rain, including two in the Paris region:Essonne, Yvelines, Eure, Calvados, Orne, Manche,Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Val-d'Oise has been placed on yellow alert. The Paris region has been affected by snowfall since yesterday evening, with heavier-than-expected accumulations and icy patches. Météo France is reporting 1 to 4 cm of snow in the south-west of theParis region, with continuous snowfall throughout the night, making traffic conditions difficult.
Transport Minister Clément Beaune also called for caution. All spreaders and snow ploughs are in action. Major difficulties were reported, notably in the west of the Île-de-France region, with motorists stuck on the A13 on Monday night. "The winter episode is sufficiently notable in the departments concerned to make traffic conditions difficult", says Météo-France, which also indicates that "an extension of the orange vigilance to Basse-Normandie is currently being considered".
