Île-de-France's first aerial tramway will soon see the light of day in Val-de-Marne. Called Câble 1, the ropeway will feature five stations between Créteil and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. Commissioning is scheduled for 2025, but work began in October 2022, and the first prototype has just been unveiled.

🚠 Last Thursday, we unveiled the prototype cabin for the #CableC1 in Limeil-Brévannes.

In concrete terms, five stations will welcome Ile-de-France travelers, between the towns of Créteil and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. Specifically, it will be possible to reach Pointe-du-Lac, in Créteil, from Bois-Matar in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (a distance of 4.5 km) in just 17 minutes, and all from the air (40-metre overflight height). No snow to admire, as in ski resorts, but these 10-seat cabins will be flying over the communes of Limeil-Brévannes and Valenton in the Val-de-Marne.

" This attractive and innovative mode of transport will provide a concrete response to the daily travel difficulties faced by the inhabitants of these Val-de-Marne towns," explains Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) on its official website.

After fourteen years of discussions, "commissioning is scheduled for 2025 ". This was confirmed to Le Parisien by Laurent Probst, Managing Director of IDFM, on January 28. According to him, " up to 1,600 passengers per hour and per direction of travel " will use this means of air transport. Initial preparatory work is due to start in the coming weeks.
