If a terrorist attack or a major event of that scale were to happen in France, the blood reserves of the Établissement français du sang (EFS) would not be enough. With summer approaching and regular injuries, the EFS is concerned and is urging the French public to donate blood at one of the nearest collection drives to them. To donate blood, you must be between 18 and 70 years old, weigh more than 50kg, and be in good health.
A light snack is provided on-site for donors after the procedure, which lasts seven to ten minutes. Plan about an hour for the full donation process. On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14, the EFS hopes for widespread civic acts that will help save lives. The need for blood products remains steady, and donations should be regular and ongoing, since blood products have a limited shelf life: 7 days for platelets and 42 days for red cells.
Three blood drives await you in June at stunning venues, between the Parc des Princes, the Hôtel de Ville de Paris and the Château de Versailles, but numerous donor centers and hospitals welcome you year-round right near you.
