Many fans were wondering when the funeral of France's favorite Englishwoman would take place. As revealed by several media outlets, Jane Birkin's funeral will take place this Monday, July 24, 2023, starting at 10 a.m. in theChurch of Saint-Roch in Paris.
Although access to the church building is " reserved for family and friends ", the artist's relatives told AFP that the ceremony will be broadcast on a giant screen installed not far from the church in Paris's 1st arrondissement. " To associate the general public, the ceremony will be broadcast live on a giant screen at the corner of rue Saint-Honoré and rue des Pyramides ", this source told AFP.
Jane Birkin's daughters, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon, will of course be present at the funeral. " Jane Birkin has gone after 16 years of a relentless battle against illness, since her stroke in September 2021, her family and the wonderful nursing staff have been by her side night and day," wrote Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon in a message released to the press on July 17. " For the past few days, she had been walking again, was motivated to reschedule her Olympia and had decided to regain her independence. This first evening alone will be her last. It was her decision," they added.
