RATP is currently experimenting with a 4-day working week for some of its staff, an initiative designed to improve the company's attractiveness.

RATP is currently testing a 4-day working week, an initiative designed to improve the company's attractiveness and reinvigorate its workforce of 6,000 station agents. This measure, already being tested since the end of January 2024 by 170 volunteers on metro lines 5, 7 and 9 and RER B, offers a balance between 4 working days and 3 rest days, with no increase in working hours. Station agents and ticket inspectors are the positions that should eventually benefit from this new organization.

For supervisors and inspectors, however, opting for a 4-day week will mean an increase in working time, from 7:15 to 8:30. This transition follows negotiations between RATP and the unions, culminating in the signature of a 3-year contract. This contract provides for the application of the 4-day week for 5,000 RATP employees if the initial test phase proves successful. An assessment will be carried out in May and October to measure the impact.

In addition to the reduction in working hours, the agreement covers other important points such as housing for staff and recognition of the arduous nature of their jobs.
