The blockade of the N10 towards Paris began at 5am this morning, with eight tractors blocking traffic. Organized by farmers in response to a call from the Coordination rurale to demonstrate their current discontent, other blockades are also underway on various roads in the Île-de-France region, notably in Meaux and Rambouillet, but also in other French towns.
Traffic, interrupted this morning on the N10, resumed according to Sytadin, with farmers withdrawing around 7:30 am. At 8am, at Orveau in Essonne, around 50 tractors gathered to block traffic. The gendarmerie quickly intervened, blocking the way for the tractors and preventing them from progressing towards Paris.
This blockade of the N10 towards Paris and other main roads in the Paris region comes just a few days before the launch of the campaign for elections to the chambers of agriculture, which will take place from January 13 to 15. Major disruptions are therefore expected today on the main roads in the Paris region, following the call by Coordination rurale to block the capital from Monday January 6, in order to obtain assurances from the government concerning the preservation of the rights of small-scale farmers.
