The Paris Marathon returns this Sunday, April 12, 2026. To mark the occasion, the Police Prefecture has issued an order temporarily altering traffic and parking on several routes across the capital. Here are the details of the restrictions surrounding this major race.

Since the return of the sunny days, running events have been piling up in Paris and across Île-de-France. After the Semi de Paris, it’s time for the famous Marathon de Paris! This iconic 42.195-kilometre race links the upper end of the Champs-Élysées to Avenue Foch, passing through Rue de Rivoli, Place de la Bastille, Place de la Nation, the Bois de Vincennes, the quays of the Seine, and the Hippodrome d'Auteuil.

But this major race, to be experienced this Sunday, April 12, 2026, won’t be without consequences for Parisian and Île-de-France drivers. The Paris Police Prefecture has thus published an order to temporarily modify parking and traffic, from 4 to 12 April, in several arrondissements of the capital, and in certain municipalities on the inner ring.

It should be noted that the decree also mentions traffic and parking restrictions in connection with the organization of the Paris Run For All and the Marathoon's, linked to the Marathon.

So, what exactly are these restrictions? Which streets will be off-limits to traffic and where will parking be banned? If you're planning to cheer on your loved ones or head to the marathon to participate, it's better to take the subway than to drive.
