Each year on May 1, Labour Day, an inter-union demonstration takes to the streets of Paris. To ensure the smooth running of this major gathering, parking restrictions are announced along the route. Here’s the update.
In France, May 1 is a special holiday on the calendar. Known as Labour Day, it is actually a day devoted to raising awareness of the fight for workers' rights. Thus, while May 1 is associated with the sale of lily-of-the-valley, it is also marked in Paris by a united demonstration organized by the Intersyndicale.

This Friday, May 1, 2026, a large demonstration is therefore organized in the streets of the capital. The protesters are thus preparing to gather along the route to defend the principles of peace and social justice. This May Day 2026 demonstration will depart from the Place de la République, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, in the early afternoon. The march will reach the finish point located at the Place de la Nation in the 12th.

The vehicle traffic is therefore prohibited along the entire parcours, which calls for using Boulevard Voltaire and Place Léon Blum. In addition, parking restrictions are being put in place. In an arrêté issued on 22 April, the Préfecture de Police announces the temporary modification of parking rules on certain streets in the 10th, 11th and 12th arrondissements of the capital.




In detail, parking of all vehicle types is prohibited from 10:00 PM on April 30, 2026, to 8:00 PM on May 1, 2026, in the streets and sections of streets below in Paris Centre, 10th, 11th and 12th arrondissements:
