Dive into the fascinating world of science and discover Cergy in a whole new light! The Fête de la Science 2025 in Cergy promises to be an exceptional rendezvous for all the curious. Running from October 3 to 13, 2025, this 34ᵉ national edition will plunge you into the theme of"Intelligence(s)", exploring the many facets of intelligence: human, animal, collective, artificial... In Cergy, the highlight will be the Village des Sciences organized by CY Cergy Paris Université, in Parc François-Mitterrand on Saturday October 11, from 11am to 6pm, with conferences, interactive workshops for young and old, and scientific demonstrations, notably by CY Tech Graduate School.
The history of science in Cergy is closely linked to its multidisciplinary university and engineering schools, such as CY Tech (formerly EISTI), which are actively involved in research and the dissemination of knowledge. Since its creation in 1991, theUniversité de Cergy-Pontoise (now CY Cergy Paris Université) has developed laboratories in a wide variety of fields: physics, geosciences, the environment, computer science, biology, etc. These laboratories, along with the bachelor's and master's degree courses they offer, are all part of theCergy-Pontoise campus. These laboratories, its bachelor's and master's degree courses in the history of science and civilization, and its engineering courses, are all evidence of a lively scientific scene in Cergy, capable of combining research, teaching and outreach.
Coming to Cergy for the Fête de la Science 2025 is an opportunity to see science in action, touch innovations and talk to those who bring it to life. The Village des Sciences offers an immersion into the heart of the laboratories, with immersive workshops (visual computing, environment, biology...) proposed by CY Tech, which will enable visitors to understand current and future issues. What's more, the event is free and open to all, from children to schoolchildren, from enthusiasts to the simply curious, in a friendly setting in Cergy, between nature, campus and modern city. In short, Cergy is a place where science is shared, felt and celebrated - a must for this 2025 edition!
CY Paris University :
Artificial intelligence (AI) is now at the heart of our societies. But what exactly is it? First of all, what is our own intelligence? Knowledge of human and animal cognitive sciences helps us to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of AI technologies. Drawing on current robotic applications, Philippe Gaussier, University Professor at CY and researcher at the ETIS laboratory, will highlight the importance of knowing our own cognitive mechanisms if we hope, one day, to understand what our intelligence is and create AIs capable of truly interacting with us.
This conference inaugurates the 2025-2026 season of the Open University cycle.
ENSEA :
At ENSEA, discover the exhibition "Recherche sans filtre: regard de photographes sur les sciences et les humanités" (Unfiltered research: photographers' view of science and the humanities), which invites the public to discover the viewpoints of seven photographers on the daily life of 82 research projects in science, health and the humanities. This unprecedented scale offers an original journey to the heart of the scientific process, through six themes: gestures, tools, research spaces, human relations, observation and data.
The exhibition was designed and produced by Sorbonne University in partnership with SAPS, ANR and Fisheye.
Open to the public on presentation of ID.
Maison de la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales Annie Ernaux :
From 1893 to 1897, young shepherds and shepherdesses had their throats slit in southeastern France. A suspected vagrant, Joseph Vacher, is arrested. A long investigation began. How to get the man to confess? How to judge him? Is he mad? And how to treat him? Is he guilty? And should he be sentenced to death? The conference will be illustrated with documents from the period, to explain the positions of the magistrates, experts, press, public and... the murderer.
Visages du Monde media library :
Come and meet Raphaël D'Urso, PhD student at CY Cergy Paris Université and winner of the "Intelligences et couleurs" project, who will be presenting his research into developmental robotics and AI.
As part of the Fête de la Science, in partnership with CY-Paris University.
In France, autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are estimated to affect around 100,000 young people under the age of 20, and by 2022, 40% of autistic children will not have access to any form of schooling. How can artificial intelligence help autistic people, endowed with a special form of intelligence, to interact more effectively with their environment? Raphaël d'Urso, a doctoral student in computer science and robotics at the ETIS laboratory, will present his work on autism and artificial intelligence. Using a robot and "serious" games, the scientist helps children with autistic disorders to learn, and promotes interaction with neurotypical people.
Parc François Mitterand :
For the 2025 edition of the Fête de la Science, the Village des Sciences organized by CY Cergy Paris Université returns to the Parc François Mitterrand!
This exceptional day will be dedicated to intelligence in all its forms.
Researchers and scientific mediators will be on hand to present some 30 unique activities, workshops, games and experiments. Come and chat with them at the stands, and explore fields as varied as quantum science and technology, experimental archaeology, crime scene reconstruction and applied linguistics through games!
New for 2025: a large marquee set up in the heart of the Village will be the setting for a range of new mediation activities.
A richer, more immersive edition than ever... not to be missed!
