A personal accident in the Ballancourt area is disrupting traffic on the RER D in Essonne this Wednesday morning. Traffic between Malesherbes (Loiret) and Corbeil-Essonnes will be interrupted until at least 9 a.m., affecting thousands of commuters who use the line every day to reach Paris and other towns in the southern Ile-de-France region.
Passengers accustomed to using this section of the line are faced with a particularly complicated situation. Ten stops are no longer served, forcing users to find alternative solutions for their morning commutes. The stations affected are Malesherbes, Boigneville, Buno Gironville, Maisse, Boutigny, La Ferté-Alais, Ballancourt, Mennecy, Moulin Galant and Corbeil-Essonnes.
The consequences of this incident are not limited to the section affected by the disruption. According to information provided by SNCF Transilien, traffic is also severely slowed between Juvisy and Corbeil-Essonnes, via Ris-Orangis, as well as between Corbeil-Essonnes and Melun, in both directions. Passengers can expect journey times to be extended by up to 30 minutes, or even train cancellations on certain sections.
This situation has arisen at a critical time of day, in the morning rush hour, when the RER D is usually very busy. Commuters travelling to work in the capital or in the towns served by the line are forced to change their itineraries, with all the inconvenience this entails in terms of delays and reorganization.
On the southern part of the line, ten stops are currently closed to passengers:
This closure considerably complicates travel for the inhabitants of these towns in the Essonne and Loiret regions, who depend on the RER D for their daily commute.
Faced with this disruption, SNCF Transilien has set up several alternative routes to enable passengers to continue their journey. These bypass solutions have been published on the rail operator's X account, in order to keep users fully informed and enable them to adapt their journeys. It is still advisable to check traffic information regularly before arriving at the station, and to allow extra time to reach your destination.
Personal accidents are unfortunately a recurring cause of disruption on the Paris region network. These human tragedies systematically interrupt traffic while emergency teams intervene and the necessary technical checks are carried out. Traffic usually resumes gradually once rescue operations have been completed and the line has been restored.
To keep abreast of the situation in real time, passengers can consult the official SNCF website or theSNCF Connect application, which provide up-to-date information on RER D traffic and the alternative transport solutions available. TheÎle-de-France Mobilités website also provides real-time traffic information for the entire Île-de-France network.
