In the Hauts-de-Seine (92), the Saint-Cloud Park hosted a drone show around 11 p.m. Organized by the Cartel agency, the evening pays homage to the Appel du 18 Juin by General de Gaulle and accompanies the cinema release of the film La Bataille de Gaulle. Several sequences lit up the sky, tracing this moment tied to the start of the Resistance.
The film La Bataille de Gaulle is a diptych by Antonin Baudry, starring Simon Abkarian as the General. The first installment, L'Âge de fer, opens on June 3, 2026, followed by the second, J'écris ton nom, on June 26, 2026. Adapted from historian Julian Jackson's book, the two features revisit the 1940–1944 period, from the collapse of France to the Liberation of Paris. Completing the cast are Benoît Magimel, Niels Schneider and Thierry Lhermitte.
On June 18, 1940, broadcasting from London, the General de Gaulle urged on the BBC to carry on the fight, an act now regarded as one of the founding moments of the Resistance. The film is currently playing in cinemas, notably at Pathé venues. In short, it’s a striking spectacle that lit up the sky over the Saint-Cloud Park, shortly after the evening storms had cleared. If some were surprised, you now know why.
