High school students and university students are set to once again take to the streets in Paris this 8 October 2026. Following a large youth-led rally on Tuesday, student and high school groups have called for an "Act 4" and fresh processions this Thursday. Teachers and union bodies are also expected to hit the streets to back this mobilization.
Note that the early childhood sector will also be on strike this Thursday and will protest to demand, among other things, higher staffing levels, better working conditions, and the recognition of individualized care.

This new day of mobilization in Paris will thus begin on October 8 at 10 a.m. in the 14th arrondissement with a demonstration by early childhood professionals. The youth will take over in the afternoon with a rally of high school students and university students slated for 3 p.m. at Place de la Bastille. In addition, another demonstration organized within the framework of the high school and student movement, and attended by several political and union organizations, is set to depart at 2 p.m. from Place de la République. As for the route, this procession will head to the Place de la Bataille de Stalingrad in the 19th arrondissement, passing along Boulevard de Magenta and Boulevard de la Chapelle. The consequence? At the request of the Police Prefecture, the RATP announces the closure of several metro stations.
So, which stations are affected by these disruptions? Three metro stations will be closed this October 8 from 12 p.m.. In detail, the stops will not be served at La Chapelle (Line 2), Barbès - Rochechouart (Lines 2 and 4) and Jacques Bonsergent (Line 5). The Bastille station (Lines 1, 5 and 8) will, for its part, be closed from 1 p.m.. "Trains will not stop there and connections will therefore not be guaranteed", specifies the RATP. Moreover, reopening of these stations will be subject to authorization from the Police Prefecture.
