Another difficult morning on RER C this Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Service is suspended from Viroflay Rive Gauche to Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines - Montigny-le-Bretonneux, in the Yvelines department (78). According to information posted on the RER C traffic updates page, service is expected to resume at 9:50 a.m.
Yet the problem originated a long way from there. It stems from the consequences of an incident affecting the track in the Juvisy area, in Essonne (91). On a line as sprawling as the RER C, a problem at one end of the network often ends up being felt at the other, a bit like a knot in a ball of wool.
The disruption affects the western section of the line, from Viroflay Rive Gauche to the terminus at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Passengers planning to travel from Viroflay to Versailles-Chantiers, Saint-Cyr or Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines are directly affected.
According to the information available, the disruption affects only this direction of travel. Delays or cancellations are still possible elsewhere on the line while service returns to normal.
The good news is that the area remains well served by other lines. The Transilien N line connects Viroflay Rive Gauche, Versailles-Chantiers and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines with Paris-Montparnasse. The U line, which departs from La Défense, also serves Versailles-Chantiers, Saint-Cyr and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
Before setting off, we recommend checking upcoming departures on the Transilien SNCF website, the official Line C blog or the Île-de-France Mobilités app. The @RERC_SNCF account also posts real-time updates. Allow a little extra time if you have an important appointment this morning.
This is not the first time this stretch has made headlines. Last week, RER C service was severely disrupted by two ongoing incidents, including a suspension of service between Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and Viroflay Rive Gauche. In January 2026, a power failure also halted service in the Yvelines for an entire morning.
At around 187 kilometers long, with numerous branches, the RER C runs through Paris and several départements in the Île-de-France region. It serves, among other places, the Château de Versailles and Orly Airport.
